Assessment
At Foundations First, we believe in assessing children in a relaxed child friendly environment with parents present as valued participants in the assessment process.
The assessment follows the needs of your child; it does not focus primarily on formal testing, although this may be offered as required.
It is designed to observe and assess functional skills in a relaxed play environment.
The aim of the assessment is to gain an understanding of how your child functions and to clarify their strengths and weaknesses.
As parents you will be encouraged to remain with your child throughout the assessment which lasts about 60-90 minutes. The first 45minutes will be spent with the OT and SLT working together directly with your child and the remainder of the session will be for discussion.
